A logo to come home to -- MLB Network
unveils logo with home plate outline
Tampa Bay Sports Net
The MLB Network has unveiled its logo, representing
the first element of the new network's identity. The logo
incorporates MLB Network in block letters above Major League
Baseball's iconic silhouetted batter logo within a home
plate-shaped border.
"As the home to all things baseball, it's
appropriate to incorporate home plate along with the classic
silhouetted batter into our logo," said Tony Petitti, President
and Chief Executive Officer of the MLB Network. "This identity
is consistent with the timeless Major League Baseball logos
and will come to represent the comprehensive baseball programming
that the network will offer."
The new logo will appear on MLB Network
advertising and promotional materials, on the set of MLB
Network studio programs, and in conjunction with everything
related to the new network.
Projected to launch in approximately 50
million cable and satellite homes on January 1, 2009, MLB
Network will be the largest and most successful debut in
cable television history, exceeding any other cable television
launch by approximately 20 million.
With live games, original programming,
highlights, classic games, and coverage of baseball events,
MLB Network will be the ultimate destination for baseball
fans on television.
